What do those quality marks on your skin care actually mean?
In a world where every skincare brand claims to be "natural," "clean," or "green," how do you know which products actually deliver what they promise? At FEA Skincare, we believe in complete honesty, so we explain what the certifications on our products actually mean.
Why certifications are important
Terms like "natural," "clean," and "green" are used by many brands, but what do they actually mean? The problem is that these terms aren't legally protected like "organic" is for food. A brand can call a product "natural" even if it contains only 1% natural ingredients.
That's why independent certifications are so valuable: they offer verification against specific, verifiable standards. At FEA Skincare, we consciously choose certified formulas so you know exactly what you're putting on your skin.
Our products contain 99% natural ingredients and are formulated with:
- plant-based ingredients
- scientifically proven natural alternatives for effectiveness
- avoidance of potentially harmful additives
- attention to sustainability throughout the entire production chain
This approach goes beyond vague marketing terms: it is about measurable quality and transparency.
ECOCERT and COSMOS Standards
ECOCERT is one of the most renowned certification bodies in the world. This certification (according to the COSMOS standard ) verifies everything from raw materials to production processes.
Products with this quality mark meet requirements in the field of:
- minimum percentages of ingredients from organic farming
- production methods that respect people and the environment
- transparent manufacturing processes
- biodegradable or recyclable packaging where possible
What is the difference between COSMOS Natural and COSMOS Organic?
COSMOS Natural
COSMOS Natural means that all ingredients are of natural origin, with the exception of a limited list of permitted ingredients such as preservatives in small amounts. Products with this certificate contain at least 95% ingredients of natural origin .
COSMOS Organic
COSMOS Organic goes one step further:
- at least 95% of the plant ingredients must be organic
- at least 20% of the total product must be organic (10% for rinse-off products)
FEA Skincare proudly carries both COSMOS Natural and COSMOS Organic certifications, depending on the product.
CPNP (Cosmetic Products Notification Portal)
CPNP registration is mandatory for all cosmetic products sold in the European Union.
This registration guarantees:
- safety assessment by a qualified professional
- a complete product file with full list of ingredients and safety data
- compliance with EU regulations on ingredients and claims
This registration provides an additional layer of security that is stricter than US requirements, allowing consumers in Europe to rely on thoroughly tested products.
Unregulated Terms: Be Alert
Without certification, marketing terms can be misleading:
- “Natural” can be used with as little as 1% natural ingredients
- “Chemical-free” is scientifically impossible — everything is made of chemicals
- “Non-toxic” has no meaning without a definition
The 99% Natural Question
You see many certified natural products labeled “99% natural” instead of “100% natural.” This is due to small amounts (less than 1%) of synthetic preservatives such as:
- benzoic acid
- benzyl alcohol
- sodium benzoate
- potassium sorbate
These ensure product safety and shelf life without compromising natural integrity. The COSMOS standard recognizes this reality and allows a maximum of 2% synthetic ingredients .
Why FEA Skincare Chooses Certification

Our ECOCERT COSMOS certifications and CPNP registration aren't just checkboxes, they're our promise to you.
